The display definition defines the number of pixels displayed by a screen. A Full HD monitor displays, for example, a definition of 1920 x 1080 pixels, or a total of 2.07 million pixels. A Quad HD (2560 x 1440 px) monitor goes up to 3.68 million pixels while an Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels) monitor reaches 8.3 million pixels.
The resolution defines a density of pixels on a specific surface. The resolution of a 27-inch Full HD monitor is thus 82 pixels per inch while it is 109 pixels per inch for a Quad HD monitor, which is still 27 inches. There are also 27-inch monitors with Ultra HD definition, the resolution then reaches 163 pixels per inch.
The higher the resolution, the sharper and sharper the image, but it also requires more CPU and graphics card resources.
We suggest that most people will be happy with a 1440P 27m monitor but will still benefit from a 4K screen if they can afford it.
